Nina Hodjat
Personal Injury and Criminal Defense Trial Lawyer
""
Nafise "Nina" Hodjat is a trial lawyer, advocate, educator, and lifelong student of the human condition.
As Managing Attorney of The SLS Firm, Nina represents individuals in both personal injury and criminal defense matters. Her practice is rooted in a simple belief: every person deserves to be seen, heard, and represented with dignity. Whether standing beside someone who has been seriously injured or defending a person accused of a crime, Nina approaches each case with a deep commitment to justice and an understanding that no life can be reduced to a set of facts on a page.
Licensed in multiple federal and state courts throughout California, New York, and Illinois, Nina is known for her relentless advocacy and her holistic approach to representation. She believes that every legal matter impacts far more than a courtroom outcome—it affects families, futures, relationships, and lives.
Nina currently serves as President of the Criminal Courts Bar Association and has taught numerous continuing legal education programs. Dedicated to continually improving her craft, she has pursued advanced training through the Gerry Spence Method and specialized law enforcement certifications, including the NHTSA and IACP DUI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing course.
A longtime member of the Gerry Spence Method community, Nina volunteers her time helping lawyers deepen their connection to themselves, their clients, and the pursuit of justice. She believes that great advocacy begins with authenticity and that meaningful change happens when lawyers have the courage to fully show up for the people they serve.
Beyond the courtroom, Nina is an automotive and lifestyle journalist whose work has appeared in national publications including Forbes, Entrepreneur, and CNN Money. She also serves as Corporate Counsel to the One Step Closer Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of children in hospitals and individuals living with Cerebral Palsy.
At the heart of everything she does is a belief that success is not defined by titles, awards, or accomplishments, but by how we show up for others and the impact we leave behind.
